Astoria has a rich entertainment history. It is home to Kaufman Studios, one of the largest film production establishments in America. Famous reels filmed here include Goodfellas, Carlito's Way, The Money Pit and Sesame Street. Steinway & Sons piano factory has been building award winning crafted musical instruments since the 19th century.
Astoria was first settled in the seventeenth century and was said to have been discovered by Adrien Block. Originally called Hallett's Cove, in the nineteenth century it was re-named after the well known fur trader - John Jacob Astor.
Take your pick of lush parks that are scattered throughout the neighborhood - Socrates Sculpture Park, Astoria Park and Rainey Park. Lounge outside with a local coffee, dessert and your favorite book near the water!
Astoria has an ever growing collection of bar and restaurants. It features the oldest beer garden in New York, the Czech Bohemian Hall and Beer. The outdoor space is a perfect for a summer hangout.
